Budgeting & Debt Management

Budgeting & Debt Management

Ensuring that you are able to manage the money that you generate through employment, investment or superannuation pension is vital to achieving your short, medium and long term financial goals. Commonly this includes paying down debt. As we consider the most appropriate way to do this consideration needs to be given to a number of issues including advice relating to:
  • Building an appropriate cash reserve that can easily be accessed in unexpected financial emergencies. •Developing a budget that is workable, sustainable and includes a degree of flexibility.
  • Paying down debt by prioritizing debt according to interest rates, tax deductibility of interest and expenses and impact on cashflow.
  • Using surplus cash to invest to meet your short, medium and long term goals, whether that be for additional loan repayments, children’s education, house deposit, early retirement or assisting adult children or grandchildren financially.
  • Applying a Risk Profile to the invested surplus cash that takes into consideration the timeline to meet your objectives and your comfort level with different types of investments.
  • Ensuring that the most appropriate product or vehicle and strategies are used to maximize your ability to build capital.
